Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dengvaxia + Pentaxim refers to the concomitant administration of Sanofi Pasteur's tetravalent dengue vaccine (CYD-TDV, Dengvaxia) and the pentavalent vaccine Pentaxim (DTaP-IPV/Hib). Dengvaxia is a live-attenuated, recombinant vaccine that utilizes a yellow fever 17D virus backbone to express the pre-membrane and envelope proteins of the four dengue virus serotypes (DENV-1, -2, -3, and -4). Pentaxim is a combined vaccine designed to protect against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (acellular), poliomyelitis (inactivated), and invasive infections caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b. This specific combination regimen was evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials (such as NCT01204632) to assess the safety and immunogenicity of administering a Pentaxim booster dose simultaneously with the second dose of the dengue vaccine in healthy toddlers aged 15-18 months. The study aimed to ensure that co-administration does not interfere with the protective immune response generated by either vaccine component.
