Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Depigoid + grasses pollen + parietaria judaica pollen is a combination subcutaneous immunotherapy product containing **depigmented and glutaraldehyde-polymerized extracts** of multiple grass pollens and Parietaria judaica pollen. This combination is designed for specific allergen immunotherapy—for the prevention and reduction of symptoms in patients with **IgE-mediated allergies** to grass and Parietaria judaica pollens, such as allergic rhinitis and/or allergic asthma. The immunotherapy is based on the principle of gradually exposing allergic individuals to modified allergenic extracts to induce immune tolerance. Depigmentation and polymerization (often with glutaraldehyde) reduces the IgE-binding capacity (thereby reducing the risk of allergic reactions), retains immunogenic IgG epitopes, and may promote immune deviation towards a Th1 response and downregulate IgE-mediated responses[1][3]. The main effect is induction of allergen-specific immune tolerance, clinical benefit (reduced symptoms, medication use), and improvement of quality of life in allergic patients[1][2][3]. The developer and main manufacturer for Depigoid immunotherapy products is ALK-Abelló.
