Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus + Dermatophagoides farinae allergen immunotherapy is a sublingual biologic treatment developed by Asac Pharmaceutical Inmunology for the management of house dust mite-induced allergic rhinitis and rhinoconjunctivitis. The therapy consists of a standardized liquid extract containing allergens from the two most common house dust mite species, *D. pteronyssinus* and *D. farinae*. It functions by inducing peripheral T-cell tolerance, promoting a shift from a pro-inflammatory Th2-mediated allergic response to a regulatory T-cell (Treg) and Th1 response. This immunological shift leads to the production of allergen-specific IgG4 'blocking' antibodies and a reduction in IgE-mediated mast cell and basophil degranulation. The product is currently being evaluated in Phase 4 clinical trials to optimize dosing regimens using nasal provocation testing in patients with or without associated mild asthma.
