desoximetasone + tacrolimus

Desoximetasone + tacrolimus is a topical combination of two active pharmaceutical ingredients used primarily in dermatology. Desoximetasone is a potent synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties, acting mainly by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor to modulate gene expression and suppress inflammatory mediators. Tacrolimus is a macrolide immunosuppressant that inhibits calcineurin by binding to FKBP-12, thereby blocking T-lymphocyte activation and cytokine (notably IL-2) transcription. This combination may be used off-label for inflammatory skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis when monotherapy is insufficient or for short-term management of severe disease. Studies have shown that these agents are physically and chemically compatible when mixed in equal parts as ointments[1][4]. Each drug retains its mechanism of action within the mixture.
