This combination drug is a multi-component tumescent solution developed for use in oral and maxillofacial surgery, specifically for the surgical removal of impacted mandibular third molars. The formulation consists of dexamethasone (a synthetic glucocorticoid), bupivacaine (a long-acting local anesthetic), adrenaline (a vasoconstrictor), and hyaluronidase (an enzyme that increases tissue permeability), all diluted in normal saline. The solution is administered via submucosal infiltration to provide prolonged analgesia, reduce postoperative edema (swelling), and minimize trismus (limited jaw opening) by modulating the inflammatory response and extending the duration of local anesthesia. The intervention was evaluated in a split-mouth randomized controlled trial by the Postgraduate Institute of Dental Sciences Rohtak to assess its efficacy in reducing postoperative inflammatory sequelae.
