Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of dexamethasone (a corticosteroid) and droperidol (a butyrophenone derivative and dopamine antagonist) used primarily for the prevention and treatment of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). Dexamethasone relieves inflammation while droperidol produces tranquilization and reduces nausea/vomiting by acting as a dopamine antagonist. The combination has an additive antiemetic effect, particularly when combined with ondansetron.
