Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dexne is a brand of fixed-dose combination medications developed and marketed by Offenbach Mexicana for the treatment of inflammatory and infectious conditions affecting the eyes, ears, and nasal passages. The core therapeutic components include dexamethasone, a synthetic glucocorticoid that provides potent anti-inflammatory effects by activating glucocorticoid receptors, and neomycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic that exerts broad-spectrum antibacterial activity by inhibiting protein synthesis through binding to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit. The nasal formulation, Dexne nasal, additionally contains phenylephrine, a sympathomimetic amine that acts as a decongestant by stimulating alpha-1 adrenergic receptors to induce local vasoconstriction. These products are typically indicated for conditions such as allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and otitis externa where a secondary bacterial infection is present or suspected.
