dexamethasone + prednisone

A combination of two corticosteroid medications, dexamethasone and prednisone, both of which are synthetic glucocorticoids used to treat various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. Dexamethasone is a long-acting corticosteroid with a half-life of 36-72 hours, while prednisone is an intermediate-acting corticosteroid with a half-life of 3-4 hours. Dexamethasone is approximately 7 times more potent than prednisone (1mg of dexamethasone is equivalent to about 7mg of prednisone)[5][9]. Research has shown that combining prednisolone (the active form of prednisone) with low-dose dexamethasone (1/50 w/w) can dramatically increase anti-leukemic activity compared to prednisolone alone in treating childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia[2].
