Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dexamethasone + sodium hypochlorite is a combination therapy used as an intracanal irrigant during endodontic procedures, specifically root canal retreatment. Dexamethasone is a potent synthetic glucocorticoid that acts as an anti-inflammatory agent by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor, thereby inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory mediators and reducing postoperative pain. Sodium hypochlorite is a widely used endodontic disinfectant that provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and dissolves organic tissue within the root canal system. This combination is being evaluated by Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University for its efficacy in minimizing postoperative pain in patients undergoing molar root canal retreatment.
