Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dexamethasone sodium phosphate is an investigational anti-inflammatory therapy being developed by Mercator MedSystems for the treatment of chronic critical limb ischemia (CLI). The therapy utilizes the proprietary Bullfrog Micro-Infusion Device to deliver the generic corticosteroid directly into the adventitial (perivascular) layer of the arterial wall following revascularization procedures such as balloon angioplasty or atherectomy. By providing localized, high-concentration delivery of dexamethasone, the treatment aims to inhibit the inflammatory cascade and subsequent intimal hyperplasia that typically lead to vessel restenosis. This approach has been studied in the LIMBO clinical trial program, including LIMBO-PTA and LIMBO-ATX, focusing on infrapopliteal lesions in patients with CLI.
