dexmedetomidine + remimazolam

A combination therapy consisting of the ultra-short-acting benzodiazepine remimazolam and the alpha-2 adrenergic agonist dexmedetomidine. This combination is being investigated by Tongji Hospital for procedural sedation in pediatric patients undergoing fiberoptic bronchoscopy. Remimazolam acts as a positive allosteric modulator of GABAA receptors, providing rapid onset and offset of sedation, while dexmedetomidine provides complementary sedative and analgesic effects with minimal respiratory depression.
