Dexmedetomidine + ulinastatin is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used primarily in perioperative and critical care settings. Dexmedetomidine is a highly selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist that provides sedative, anxiolytic, and analgesic effects without significant respiratory depression. Ulinastatin is a serine protease inhibitor with anti-inflammatory properties, commonly used to reduce systemic inflammation and organ injury during major surgeries or critical illness. Mechanistically, dexmedetomidine acts centrally on alpha-2 adrenergic receptors to inhibit sympathetic activity while ulinastatin inhibits various proteases (e.g., trypsin) involved in inflammation.
