Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DexSite is an ocular drug-device combination product developed by Kiora Pharmaceuticals (formerly EyeGate Pharmaceuticals) for the treatment of non-infectious inflammatory conditions of the eye, most notably anterior uveitis. The system utilizes a proprietary iontophoretic delivery technology, known as the EyeGate II Delivery System, to non-invasively transport a specifically formulated 40 mg/mL solution of dexamethasone sodium phosphate (EGP-437) into ocular tissues. By applying a low-level electrical current, the device facilitates the movement of ionized drug molecules across the ocular surface, achieving therapeutic concentrations in both the anterior and posterior segments. This mechanism is designed to provide the efficacy of subconjunctival or intravitreal injections while eliminating the risks of needle-related complications and reducing the burden of frequent topical corticosteroid administration.
