This investigational fluid resuscitation regimen consists of a combination of **Dextran 40** and **Ringer's lactate solution** administered in a 1:3 ratio. Dextran 40 is a semisynthetic glucose polymer (colloid) that acts as a plasma volume expander and improves microcirculation by reducing blood viscosity and erythrocyte aggregation. Ringer's lactate is a balanced crystalloid solution containing essential electrolytes and lactate, used for volume replacement and acid-base balance. The combination is currently being evaluated in a randomized controlled trial (NCT06835023) led by the **Satu Mare County Emergency Hospital** in Romania. The study aims to determine if early fluid resuscitation with this combination can reduce systemic inflammation, prevent organ failure, and decrease the need for intensive care unit (ICU) admission in patients with mild or moderate acute pancreatitis compared to standard treatment with Ringer's lactate alone.
