Overview

This is a combination product containing dextrose and methylprednisolone acetate. Dextrose is a simple sugar (glucose) commonly used as an energy source or diluent in pharmaceutical preparations. Methylprednisolone acetate is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. The combination may be compounded for specific clinical uses, such as intra-articular injections for inflammatory joint conditions, where dextrose can serve as a diluent or adjunct to the steroid component. Methylprednisolone acetate acts by binding to glucocorticoid receptors, modulating gene expression, suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokines, and inhibiting immune cell activity[1][6][7]. Dextrose does not have direct anti-inflammatory effects but may provide osmotic support or serve as a vehicle.
