Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dextrose monohydrate + sodium chloride + magnesium chloride + sodium lactate + calcium chloride is a **peritoneal dialysis solution** marketed as **DELFLEX** for patients with chronic kidney failure undergoing peritoneal dialysis. It is a sterile intraperitoneal electrolyte and osmotic solution developed and manufactured by Fresenius Medical Care North America. The dextrose component creates an osmotic gradient across the peritoneal membrane to promote ultrafiltration and removal of excess water and retained solutes, while sodium, calcium, and magnesium help maintain electrolyte balance and sodium lactate serves as a buffer that is metabolized to bicarbonate equivalents to help correct metabolic acidosis. The product is supplied in multiple dextrose strengths, including 1.5%, 2.5%, and 4.25%, and in different fill volumes for chronic ambulatory and automated peritoneal dialysis use.
