Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Normosol-M and 5% Dextrose Injection** is a sterile, single-dose, hypertonic intravenous fixed-dose electrolyte and carbohydrate solution manufactured by ICU Medical. It contains dextrose monohydrate, sodium chloride, potassium acetate, and magnesium acetate and is indicated for parenteral maintenance of routine daily fluid and electrolyte requirements while providing minimal carbohydrate calories. Dextrose supplies calories, while sodium, chloride, potassium, magnesium, and acetate support fluid balance, electrolyte homeostasis, and acid-base maintenance; the magnesium component can help prevent iatrogenic magnesium deficiency during prolonged parenteral therapy.
