Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination dietary supplement containing docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid, and vitamin D (commonly as cholecalciferol or ergocalciferol). DHA is primarily known for its role in supporting brain, eye, and cardiovascular health. Vitamin D promotes calcium absorption in the gut and maintains adequate serum calcium and phosphate concentrations to enable normal bone mineralization. The combination is often used in prenatal vitamins to support maternal health before conception, during pregnancy, and postpartum. It may also be used for general supplementation to address deficiencies or support metabolic health. Mechanistically, DHA exerts anti-inflammatory effects by modulating eicosanoid synthesis and cell membrane fluidity; vitamin D acts via the nuclear vitamin D receptor to regulate gene expression involved in calcium/phosphate homeostasis and immune modulation[1][4][5].
