di'ao xinxuekang

Di'ao Xinxuekang is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine derived from the dried rhizomes of Dioscorea nipponica Makino. It is primarily used for the prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The active ingredient is a water extract of Dioscorea nipponica rhizome. Mechanistically, Di'ao Xinxuekang exerts lipid-lowering and anti-atherosclerotic effects by downregulating proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) expression and upregulating low-density lipoprotein cholesterol receptor (LDLR) in the liver, thereby improving cholesterol homeostasis. It may also act synergistically with statins such as atorvastatin to further reduce LDL-C levels via modulation of the SREBP2/PCSK9 pathway[1][4]. In some regions, it is also authorized as a traditional herbal medicinal product for relief of headache and muscular pains or cramps in neck, back, and legs based on traditional use[2].
