Diazepam + ibuprofen is a combination of two well-established pharmaceutical agents, each with distinct mechanisms of action. Diazepam is a long-acting benzodiazepine that acts as an agonist at the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A (GABA-A) receptor, enhancing GABAergic inhibition in the central nervous system. This results in anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, muscle relaxant, and sedative effects[5][10]. Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works primarily by non-selectively inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis involved in pain, inflammation, and fever[6]. The combination may be used for conditions where both muscle relaxation/anxiolysis and anti-inflammatory analgesia are desired; clinical studies have evaluated their combined use for chronic orofacial muscle pain without significant adverse effects[2][7].
