Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Artrilona is a fixed-dose combination of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) indomethacin and the benzodiazepine diazepam. Developed and marketed by Gramón Bagó, it is indicated for the treatment of inflammatory and degenerative rheumatic diseases, acute musculoskeletal disorders, post-surgical inflammation, and acute gout. Indomethacin acts as a potent inhibitor of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis to provide anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic effects. Diazepam acts as a positive allosteric modulator of the GABAA receptor, providing muscle relaxant and mild anxiolytic effects to alleviate muscle spasms and pain-associated anxiety.
