Overview

Diclofenac + levomenthol (MFC51123) is a topical combination gel developed by GSK Consumer Healthcare for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with acute musculoskeletal injuries, such as ankle sprains. It contains 1% diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), and 3% levomenthol, a cooling agent that acts as an agonist on TRPM8 cold receptors. This combination is designed to provide rapid pain relief through the immediate cooling sensation of menthol and the sustained anti-inflammatory action of diclofenac. It has been evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials comparing its efficacy against placebo and monotherapy components.
