Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Zinidol (available as Zinidol Gel and Zinidol Liniment) is a topical fixed-dose combination analgesic and anti-inflammatory formulation developed by Zinnia Life Sciences. It contains diclofenac diethylamine (equivalent to diclofenac sodium), linseed oil, menthol, and methyl salicylate. Diclofenac acts as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis to alleviate pain and swelling. Methyl salicylate and menthol act as counterirritants that stimulate transient receptor potential (TRP) channels (such as TRPM8, TRPA1, and TRPV1) to produce cooling and warming sensations, which distract from deeper musculoskeletal pain. Linseed oil serves as a penetration enhancer and provides mild anti-inflammatory effects. Zinidol is indicated for the localized relief of pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal disorders, including osteoarthritis, backaches, sprains, strains, and sports injuries.
