Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Painbelin is an oral fixed-dose combination drug containing the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) diclofenac sodium (50 mg) and the analgesic/antipyretic paracetamol (500 mg). Developed by SPEY, Painbelin is approved for use in traumatology and various pain-related conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute gout attacks, primary dysmenorrhea, post-traumatic and postsurgical pain, and fever. Diclofenac sodium acts by inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), thereby blocking prostaglandin synthesis to reduce pain and inflammation. Paracetamol provides complementary analgesic and antipyretic effects, likely through central cyclooxygenase inhibition and modulation of the endogenous cannabinoid system.
