Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Metapain D is a fixed-dose combination tablet developed and marketed by Sanrey Therapeutics for the management of acute musculoskeletal pain and discomfort associated with muscle spasms. It combines diclofenac potassium, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), with metaxalone, a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant. Diclofenac potassium provides rapid-onset analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes, thereby blocking prostaglandin synthesis. Metaxalone acts on the central nervous system to alleviate muscle stiffness and spasms, improving overall mobility. This dual-action formulation is typically used as an adjunct to rest and physical therapy in orthopedic and pain management settings.
