Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NOVO-T is a fixed-dose combination injection developed by Novogen Captab, containing the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) diclofenac sodium (37.5 mg) and the muscle relaxant thiocolchicoside (2.0 mg). Diclofenac acts by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain and inflammation. Thiocolchicoside is a semi-synthetic derivative of colchicoside that functions as a competitive GABA-A receptor antagonist and glycine receptor antagonist, providing muscle relaxant effects. The formulation includes benzyl alcohol (4% v/v) as a preservative and local anesthetic to minimize injection site pain. NOVO-T is primarily indicated for the management of acute painful musculoskeletal conditions characterized by both inflammation and muscle spasms.
