Overview

Didanosine + lamivudine + nevirapine is a combination antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimen used in the treatment of HIV-1 infection. This combination includes: - Didanosine, a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI), which inhibits HIV reverse transcriptase by acting as a chain terminator during viral DNA synthesis. - Lamivudine, also an NRTI, which similarly inhibits reverse transcriptase and prevents viral replication. - Nevirapine, a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI), which binds directly to reverse transcriptase and blocks its activity through allosteric inhibition. This regimen has been studied for once-daily administration in people living with HIV and has demonstrated potent immunological and antiviral effects[5]. Each component targets the HIV reverse transcriptase enzyme but via different mechanisms or binding sites, providing synergistic suppression of viral replication. The primary indication is for the management of HIV infection.
