This is a combination therapy consisting of dihydroartemisinin, piperaquine, and ivermectin. Dihydroartemisinin and piperaquine are antimalarial agents commonly used together as a fixed-dose combination for the treatment and prevention of malaria. Ivermectin is an antiparasitic agent with mosquitocidal properties; when administered to humans, it renders their blood lethal to mosquitoes feeding on them. The combined use of these three drugs has been studied primarily in the context of mass drug administration (MDA) strategies aimed at accelerating malaria elimination by both treating human infection (dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine) and reducing mosquito vector survival (ivermectin). Clinical studies have shown that this combination increases plasma concentrations of ivermectin and piperaquine without significant additional safety concerns, though transient liver function impairment has been observed in rare cases. The regimen significantly reduces malaria prevalence and incidence in high-transmission settings[1][3][5][6].
