This is a combination of two drugs, diltiazem and acetylcysteine (N-acetylcystein). Diltiazem is a non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker used primarily for the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, and certain cardiac arrhythmias. It works by inhibiting the influx of calcium ions into cardiac and vascular smooth muscle during depolarization, resulting in vasodilation and decreased heart contractility[3][8]. Acetylcysteine is an antioxidant and mucolytic agent most commonly used to treat acetaminophen poisoning by replenishing glutathione stores in the liver; it also has uses as a mucolytic in respiratory conditions[7]. The combination has been studied experimentally for its effects on myocardial damage and oxidative stress during off-pump cardiac surgery but is not an established or approved fixed-dose pharmaceutical product[1].
