Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination of two separate medications used together for hypertension treatment. Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker that inhibits calcium influx across cell membranes in cardiac and vascular smooth muscle. Olmesartan medoxomil is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that works by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor in vascular smooth muscle. When used together, these medications may have complementary effects on blood pressure through different mechanisms, but also potential for additive effects that require monitoring.
