Overview

**Dingongteng + xuanhusuo** is a combination of two herbal components widely used in traditional Chinese medicine. - **Xuanhusuo** refers to the tuber/root of *Corydalis yanhusuo*, which is recognized for its analgesic and sedative properties, primarily attributed to its rich content of bioactive alkaloids such as tetrahydropalmatine, berberine, and others[1][4][5]. - **Dingongteng** commonly refers to *Trachelospermum jasminoides* (sometimes confused with other twining vines), known in TCM for anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antirheumatic properties. The combination is traditionally indicated to relieve pain, invigorate blood circulation, and reduce stasis, especially in musculoskeletal and gynecological disorders including chest pain, abdominal pain, amenorrhea, and dysmenorrhea[1][6][7]. Mechanistically, xuanhusuo exerts pain relief primarily by antagonism of dopamine D2 (and D1, D3) receptors, modulation of ion channels, neurotransmitter levels, and inhibition of inflammation[4][5]. Dingongteng may exert synergistic anti-inflammatory effects, though mechanisms are less well-characterized. This combination is generally used as a dietary supplement or herbal remedy and not as a regulated pharmaceutical drug outside East Asia.
