Dinor-N(Omega)-Hydroxy-L-Arginine is a synthetic derivative of the amino acid L-arginine and belongs to the class of organic compounds known as L-alpha-amino acids. It is an experimental small molecule that acts as a modulator of nitric oxide (NO) synthesis and arginase activity. By inhibiting arginase, it increases the availability of L-arginine for nitric oxide synthase (NOS), thereby enhancing NO-mediated vasodilation. This mechanism positions Dinor-N(Omega)-Hydroxy-L-Arginine as a potential candidate for treating conditions associated with endothelial dysfunction, such as impaired vascular function[1][2]. The compound has not been approved for clinical use and remains in the experimental stage.
