Overview

DPT-IPV (TETRABIK) is a quadrivalent combination vaccine developed by Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporation in collaboration with the Research Foundation for Microbial Diseases of Osaka University (BIKEN). It is indicated for the prevention of diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and poliomyelitis in infants and children. The vaccine formulation includes diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, acellular pertussis antigens (pertussis toxin [PT] and filamentous hemagglutinin [FHA]), and inactivated poliovirus (IPV antigen, Sabin strain). Approved in Japan in 2012, it is administered via subcutaneous injection and is a standard component of the Japanese pediatric immunization schedule. In clinical development, it has served as an active control in Phase 3 trials for pentavalent vaccines (such as BK1310) that add a Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) component.
