Overview
CombAct-HIB + Engerix-B Pediatric + oral polio vaccine is a combination vaccine regimen used for the primary immunization of infants against six major infectious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), hepatitis B, and poliomyelitis. This regimen consists of three distinct vaccine products: CombAct-HIB (a DTaP-Hib combination vaccine developed by Sanofi Pasteur), Engerix-B Pediatric (a recombinant hepatitis B vaccine developed by GSK), and a live-attenuated oral polio vaccine (OPV). The combination has been utilized as a clinical trial comparator to evaluate the immunogenicity and safety of hexavalent vaccines, such as Hexyon, which consolidate these protections into a single injection. The regimen works by inducing active immunity through the presentation of purified toxoids (diphtheria and tetanus), acellular pertussis antigens, Hib capsular polysaccharide conjugated to a carrier protein, recombinant HBsAg, and live-attenuated poliovirus strains.
