Overview

This combination refers to the co-administration of three distinct vaccine types: the DTaP vaccine (diphtheria, tetanus, and acellular pertussis), the MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, and rubella), and the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine. While not currently available as a single heptavalent injection, these vaccines are routinely co-administered during pediatric immunization schedules, typically at 12-15 months and 4-6 years of age. The DTaP component provides active immunity against bacterial toxins and pathogens through toxoids and purified proteins, while the MMR and varicella components are live-attenuated viral vaccines. Clinical data support the safety and immunologic non-interference of giving these vaccines during the same clinical visit, often using a combination MMRV product alongside a DTaP-based injection.
