Overview

Tdap-IPV (diphtheria and tetanus toxoids adsorbed + acellular pertussis vaccine + inactivated poliovirus vaccine) is a multivalent combination biologic vaccine developed by Sanofi Pasteur. It is formulated as a booster dose for older children, adolescents, and adults who have previously received a primary vaccination series. The vaccine contains adsorbed tetanus toxoid, a reduced dose of diphtheria toxoid, a five-component acellular pertussis preparation (including pertussis toxoid, filamentous hemagglutinin, pertactin, and fimbriae types 2 and 3), and inactivated poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3. It works by inducing active immunity through the production of protective antibodies against *Corynebacterium diphtheriae*, *Clostridium tetani*, *Bordetella pertussis*, and poliovirus. Clinical evaluation includes Phase 4 studies assessing long-term safety and immunogenicity when administered alone or concurrently with other vaccines such as the hepatitis B vaccine.
