Overview
Comvac 5 is a fully liquid pentavalent combination vaccine developed and manufactured by Bharat Biotech. It provides active immunization in infants and young children against five severe diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, and invasive diseases caused by Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). The vaccine is a uniform suspension containing diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, inactivated whole-cell Bordetella pertussis, recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), and Haemophilus influenzae type b capsular polysaccharide (PRP) conjugated to tetanus toxoid (PRP-TT), adsorbed on an aluminum phosphate adjuvant gel. It is administered intramuscularly, typically in a three-dose primary series at 6, 10, and 14 weeks of age.
