Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination vaccine developed by Changchun BCHT Biotechnology for the prevention of diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis. It utilizes acellular pertussis components (purified antigens) rather than whole-cell bacteria to minimize reactogenicity. The vaccine is adsorbed onto an aluminum-based adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity. BCHT's formulation is specifically a component-based acellular vaccine, which allows for precise control over the concentration of individual pertussis antigens like pertussis toxoid (PT) and filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA), potentially offering better consistency and efficacy than older co-purified acellular vaccines. The vaccine is currently in Phase 3 clinical trials in China.
