Overview

This combination vaccine regimen consists of the trivalent DTP (diphtheria, tetanus, and whole-cell pertussis) vaccine and the live-attenuated measles vaccine. The DTP component is an inactivated vaccine containing diphtheria and tetanus toxoids along with inactivated whole-cell *Bordetella pertussis*. The measles component utilizes the live-attenuated Edmonston-Zagreb strain. This specific combination was evaluated in clinical research conducted by the Medical Research Council Unit, The Gambia, to investigate the immunological interactions between live and killed vaccines in infants, specifically focusing on the effects on T-cell memory and innate immunity when co-administered at 9 months of age. Both vaccine components used in the Gambian study were manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.
