Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This product is a **combination vaccine formulation** comprising two distinct vaccines: a diphtheria and tetanus toxoids and acellular pertussis (DTaP) vaccine, and a 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV7). The DTaP component contains inactivated (toxoid) diphtheria and tetanus toxins as well as purified, inactivated components of Bordetella pertussis (acellular pertussis). The 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine contains polysaccharides from seven Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes conjugated to a protein carrier. The combination is administered concurrently to induce active immunity against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), and invasive disease due to the included pneumococcal serotypes. Both vaccines work by stimulating the immune system to produce specific antibodies and cellular immune responses to these pathogens, thereby protecting against the respective diseases. The primary indications are for routine immunization in infants and young children[1][6].
