Overview

This is a combination vaccine containing diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, acellular pertussis antigens (DTaP), and Sabin inactivated poliovirus vaccine (Sabin-IPV). The Sabin-IPV component is produced from attenuated Sabin strains of poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3 grown on Vero cells. This combination provides immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), and all three types of poliovirus. The mechanism of action involves inducing neutralizing antibodies against the respective bacterial toxins and viral antigens to confer immunity. The use of Sabin strains for IPV production reduces biosafety risks compared to wild-type virus-based IPV manufacturing. This combination has been licensed in Japan and China as part of routine childhood immunization schedules[1][2][4][8].
