Overview

GSK Biologicals' DTPa-IPV/Hib-MenC-TT is an investigational hexavalent combination vaccine designed to protect infants against six major infectious diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), poliomyelitis, Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), and meningococcal serogroup C (MenC). The vaccine combines diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, acellular pertussis antigens (including pertussis toxoid, filamentous hemagglutinin, and pertactin), inactivated poliovirus strains (types 1, 2, and 3), and capsular polysaccharides from Hib and MenC, both of which are conjugated to a tetanus toxoid carrier protein. Developed to simplify infant immunization schedules by reducing the number of injections, this vaccine was evaluated in Phase II clinical trials (such as NCT00871338) where it demonstrated non-inferiority to the separate administration of DTPa-IPV/Hib and MenC vaccines. It is currently considered a research/investigational compound and has not received a distinct approved brand name as a standalone product.
