Overview

Diphtheria toxoid + tetanus toxoid + hepatitis B vaccine + Haemophilus influenzae type b vaccine is a quadrivalent combination vaccine (DT-HBV-Hib) designed to stimulate protective immune responses against diphtheria, tetanus, hepatitis B virus infection, and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) disease. It comprises four active immunological components: diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, a hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)-based hepatitis B vaccine, and a Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) conjugate antigen. The vaccine acts by stimulating the immune system's B and T cells to induce antigen-specific antibody production against the respective pathogens. It has been studied by the University of Oxford (Oxford Vaccine Group) in a randomized, open-label infant immunization schedule trial in Kathmandu, Nepal, to evaluate optimal timing of infant vaccination schedules.
