Overview

DT Polio is an adsorbed combination vaccine developed and manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur MSD (and later managed by Sanofi Pasteur) for the prevention of diphtheria, tetanus, and poliomyelitis. It is formulated with a standard (full) dose of diphtheria toxoid, tetanus toxoid, and inactivated poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3 (DT-IPV), adsorbed on aluminum hydroxide. Primarily used in France as a booster dose in children at 6 years of age, DT Polio was compared in a Phase 3 clinical trial against REVAXIS (a low-dose diphtheria formulation). Due to recurrent shortages and an increase in allergic reactions, DT Polio was suspended and permanently discontinued in France in 2008, with REVAXIS and other multi-valent vaccines serving as alternatives.
