Diprobase Cream + Doublebase Gel

Diprobase Cream and Doublebase Gel are topical emollient formulations used to manage dry skin conditions and restore the skin's natural barrier. Diprobase Cream is a paraffin-based emollient containing white soft paraffin and liquid paraffin, while Doublebase Gel is a moisturizing gel containing liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate. These products were evaluated as the intervention arm in the Barrier Enhancement for Eczema Prevention (BEEP) trial (ISRCTN21528841), which investigated whether daily emollient application during the first year of life could prevent the development of atopic eczema in high-risk infants. The trial concluded that the intervention did not significantly reduce eczema incidence at two years and was associated with an increased risk of skin infections.
