Overview

CDE100 is a fixed-dose combination drug developed by the Brazilian pharmaceutical company EMS, consisting of dipyrone (metamizole) and hyoscine butylbromide (scopolamine butylbromide). Dipyrone is a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic that provides pain relief by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes and modulating central pain pathways. Hyoscine butylbromide is a quaternary ammonium antispasmodic that antagonizes muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in smooth muscle, specifically targeting the uterine and gastrointestinal tracts to relieve cramps. This combination is primarily indicated for the treatment of pain and spasms associated with primary dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps). CDE100 was evaluated in a Phase III crossover clinical trial (NCT04446325) to demonstrate therapeutic equivalence to the reference product, Buscopan Composto.
