Overview

**Disodium clodronate + lidocaine** is an intramuscular fixed-dose combination containing the first-generation non-nitrogenous bisphosphonate clodronate and the local anesthetic lidocaine. Clodronate is taken up by osteoclasts and suppresses osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, supporting its use in tumor osteolysis, multiple myeloma, primary hyperparathyroidism, and prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Lidocaine provides local anesthetic activity by reversibly blocking voltage-gated sodium channels, reducing injection-site pain. The Teva product is supplied as an intramuscular solution containing 200 mg clodronate and 40 mg lidocaine, typically administered every 14 to 28 days.
