Overview

This is a combination drug proposed to include Disodium Cromoglycate, Proxiphylline, and Salbutamol. The combination of disodium cromoglycate (a mast cell stabilizer) and salbutamol (a bronchodilator) has been studied for asthma treatment, particularly in children with severe, intractable asthma, showing better control of symptoms than either component alone. Disodium cromoglycate inhibits degranulation of mast cells, preventing the release of histamine and other inflammatory mediators, and is used prophylactically for asthma. Salbutamol relaxes the muscles in the airways and widens them, making breathing easier, and is used for acute episodes of bronchospasm caused by bronchial asthma and other chronic bronchopulmonary disorders. The two-drug combination works synergistically: salbutamol provides immediate bronchodilation while sodium cromoglycate provides anti-inflammatory effects and prevents mast cell degranulation. Proxiphylline is not specifically mentioned in studies for this triple combination, but it is likely a xanthine derivative similar to theophylline, which also has bronchodilator properties and has been used in combination with salbutamol. The combination treatment is generally administered via inhalation.
