Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Diwu Fengshi'an Capsule is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It is specifically indicated for patients with the 'damp-heat obstruction' pattern (Shi-Re-Bi-Zu), a TCM syndrome characterized by joint redness, swelling, heat, and pain. The capsule is composed of botanical extracts, with *Enemion raddeanum* (known as Diwu) as a primary active component. It is designed to clear heat, resolve dampness, and alleviate inflammation and pain. The drug has been evaluated in a Phase 3 randomized, double-blind clinical trial in China (CTR20132235), where it was compared against Total Glucosides of Paeony (TGP) capsules to assess its efficacy in improving joint symptoms and laboratory markers of inflammation in adult RA patients.
