Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DKF-MA201 is a long-acting, sustained-release generic formulation of octreotide (specifically octreotide acetate) developed by Dongkook Pharmaceutical. It is designed as a once-monthly intramuscular injection utilizing Dongkook's proprietary microsphere-based drug delivery system (DDS) platform. DKF-MA201 is being developed for the treatment of acromegaly and gastrointestinal/pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, aiming to provide a generic alternative to Novartis's blockbuster drug Sandostatin LAR. By slowly releasing octreotide over a one-month period, the formulation maintains stable therapeutic blood levels, thereby suppressing the hypersecretion of growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) to improve patient compliance and clinical outcomes.
